It is so easy to get into the rut of life. It is even easier to live the same year over and over (for 75 years…or more) and call it life. Think back over this week…can you remember the details? Or did you just tick over?
Life happens. Circumstances change. People change. Storms come. Sunny days appear. And we do what we do day in and day out.
It’s time to PAUSE. Take note of where you are, who you are with and the moment you’re in. Live in the now, and if needs be, do something different to revive the life in yourself.
I have found it easy to complain of what is wrong and what is not in place and what should or shouldn’t be. I have seen myself get into the rut of just ticking over. So this week, I took a pause.
The word ‘pause’ means: a temporary stop : a period of time in which something is stopped before it is started again.
In this week, I deliberately started to look around and find things to draw my attention to for which I am grateful. Why choose to write what I’m grateful for? Well, I can’t be moody and grateful at the same time. It helped me put into perspective the things that were bugging me. It also caused me to appreciate each moment I was in.
Here are some things I’m grateful for from this week (in no particular order):
1. The Rainbows
I absolutely love rainbows! I find them simply beautiful.Something about the colors splashed out across the sky makes me smile. I had just said on Sunday how it would be awesome to see a rainbow. Well this week I got to see three, full and brightly colored rainbows.
2. Inspirational People
You never know who you will meet and who you will inspire and be inspired by. This week, I got to be in the company of inspirational people. These people bring such joy and passion into the conversation and just by being around them, I felt energized and encouraged!
This week sleep was a challenge for me. Every little noise would cause me to jolt up! And with the rain and wind we had this week – it caused branches to hit the roof, the gate to squeak and not to mention the alarm company phoning because a sensor went off! I opened my drawer and had forgotten that I had ear plugs! I slept so much better with them in.
Well, I forgot to tell J (my husband) I had used the earplugs. One rolled into the bed during the night. The next morning he thought it was a chip (a Fling – we had chips while watching YouTube the previous night)…He picked up the “yellow chip” and was about to eat it, only to find out it wasn’t a chip! The fact that he nearly ate it and the look of disgust on his face were just so funny! I laughed so hard!
5. The Treadmill at Gym
Anyone who goes to gym knows there are people there who provide humor. Oh the people I saw trying to use the treadmill at gym – it was like watching a Gym Fail video on YouTube.
So next time you find yourself in a rut or just ticking over – take a ‘pause moment’. Go and try something different and new. Learn to appreciate the moments you live. Learn to be grateful and present in the moment!
