Wow…the year of 2015 is coming to an end. It feels like this year went by in a flash! For me it was one of great change and growth. The greatest lessons I am taking from 2015 are:
1. Quickest way to grow is to be booted out from the comfort zone.
2. God responds to faith. I must keep my focus on Jesus and His words to me.
3. Nothing surprises God and His timing is perfect.
I’m not sure what type of year you have had, but I know that you can’t take it with you into 2016. No use dragging all the heavy baggage of your “bad year” and expecting to feel free and excited about the new year. You can’t judge what God wants to do for you in 2016 by the disappointments, discouragement or your disobedience this past year. Let go of the expectations that weren’t met and the feelings of failure. While all the good might have encouraged you this year, don’t limit what God can do in 2016 by this year’s high moments.
God wants you live in the fullness of His promises to you. As you step into 2016 – make a decision to live by faith (Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:11; Hebrews 10:38). Make a decision to trust God and let His Word be the final authority in your life. What are you trusting God for? Don’t be afraid to ask God for what you want – He has already provided for your needs – so let Him bless you. Ask, believe and receive (Matthew 8:13; Mark 11:22-24).
Take time to hear from God and ask Him to help you set out what you need to do in the next year. Most people don’t finish the goals they set because there is no real direction but rather a whole lot of wishes on a piece of paper. They don’t really ask God for direction and then get upset and feel like God isn’t coming through for them.
Get rid of fear! God’s power is in you. You are bold and courageous. I love what 2 Timothy 1:7 says in the Amplified Bible:
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of a calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.
Don’t let excuses get in the way!! Choose to believe what God has said about you – step out and pursue what He has called you to be and do. Don’t let another year pass by and let fear keep you captive and paralyze you.
I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [i am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency. Philippians 4:13 AMP
Let 2016 be the year we all pursue with great courage and passion all that God has set out for us. Each of us is unique and created to do something that nobody else on earth can do the way we can. Celebrate the specialness and explore the wonderful potential of each new day which is filled with His new mercies. Don’t let a day go by and be wasted by shrinking back from life in fear of the unknown and failure.
LIVE 2016 COURAGEOUSLY!
Happy New Year! May it be the year that we run our race with boldness, passion and courage!
With love from my heart to yours
